Throughout Ronald Sussman’s life, joining law enforcement had always been an aspiration. Now, at the age of 66, Sussman is a member of the auxiliary police force, a volunteer organization that works with the NYPD. But, while Sussman gets to live out his dream of being in uniform, many New Yorkers have zero clue what the auxiliary force does and that it even exists.
